DURING THE QUARANTINE
I leave my door wide open,
hoping some good fortune
may finally come my way.
My calico angora cat lines up
her new-born meowing kittens
like the Madam of a brothel.
My weathered parrot covered
in the color of a leather valise,
squawks, “The end is near!”
My faithful black Labrador
sleeps at the foot of my bed
with a toothy smile on his face
dreaming of the pork chops
he never ate in my house.
